Feeling overwhelmed by your child’s behavior?
Our children are precious to us. We worry when they are having difficulties at home or at school. They may be impacted by a move, a divorce, or a learning disability. Some children have difficulty controlling their emotions while others shut down and withdraw. Their behavior can affect the entire family.
Therapy can help children and their family members learn to manage their emotional needs. We also provide psychological testing so that we can help the child receive the most appropriate assistance from the school and from the community. Children who are struggling emotionally often do not have the verbal language to be able to express their thoughts and feelings. By using therapeutic play, they can work through their problems and find a successful solution.
We also provide counseling for the parents whose children are having difficulties in their lives. Often, parents feel grief, guilt, anger and loss among others. We help parents to find understanding, acceptance, and skills to better handle their unique situations.
When needed, we also conduct family counseling so that all members of the family learn to effectively communicate what is going on with them in a safe place where the therapist will role model in expressing emotions, setting boundaries, negotiating different needs of each individuals, and providing insights.
